Frequently asked questions about Criatura bags
What are the bags made from?
They are made from upcycled PVC/vinyl/rubber pool toys that would otherwise end up in landfill - because they've burst and are no longer usable, or they've been sitting around collecting dust for too long. All pool toys are donated to us.
Some of our bags are a mix of new fabric and upcycled pool toys.
What can I use the bags for?
The uses are endless! Keep the wet out and the dry in, or the wet in and the dry out! Store your make-up, bikinis or other wet things, toiletries when travelling, keep the sand away from your phone on the beach, organise your suitcase or use as a fun clutch!
How do I care for my bag?
PVC/Vinyl/Rubber from pool inflatables and air mattresses is a soft and strong material, making it lightweight and flexible. Our products may have natural wrinkles or folds in the material which will usually disappear over time. Pooltoy products can be wiped clean with warm water and a little washing-up liquid if they are particularly dirty and then left to dry.
Are the bags waterproof?
The bags are splashproof but not waterproof. They're great for use near water, but your stuff inside will still get wet if you take your bag for a swim.
As the bag is used more, there is a possibility that the pattern and colour on the PVC may wear off or rub off, this is due to the nature of printed PVC.
Why do the bags have marks and wrinkles?
Stains and marks can occur because it is a recycled material. At Criatura we like our imperfections, because by reusing materials that have already lived a life, there are sometimes marks that we cannot get out. We like to think that this gives our bags a patina and a history.
Sizes are approximate as everything is handmade.

Each one is completely individual and unique! They're made from a material that can't be recycled, which means we're doing something good for the planet and keeping pool toys out of landfill (at least for a little while longer).

Each bag is handmade and unique! The materials used are first cleaned and then all the bags are sewn by hand.
Why does my bag not look exactly like the pictures?
We do our best to ensure that our photographs are as accurate as possible. However monitors vary in brightness and colour representatoin. The bags will be made from the same type of inflatable toy, but each bag is individual and can vary slightly from the one in the photo. Please contact us if you have any problems with the bag(s) you've received.
