Reducing plastic waste

Pool toys are made from PVC, a type of plastic that cannot be recycled. Criatura is a place where broken inflatables get a new lease of life. Instead of ending up in a landfill, we turn them into something useful, something beautiful, something you can enjoy for a long time.

Since2017, I've been cleaning and cutting the materials and then sewing the bags in my workshop.

The idea of upcycling broken pool toys and reducing plastic pollution on the beautiful island of Fuerteventura was born when I was working in a hotel shop, where I had to inflate and sell all these crocodiles, sharks, air mattresses... and then see them end up in the rubbish bin shortly afterwards. I wanted to give them a second life and do something about our throwaway society.

I wanted to create something that was practical, unique and splash-proof - something that could be used in many ways every day.
